Ezviz Mini HD Wi-Fi Camera

Aptly named, the Ezviz Mini ($79.99) is a video camera petite home security camera that packs plenty of features into its diminutive frame, including local and cloud video recording, motion detection, and crisp 720p video. It’s very easy to install and configure, and uses a straightforward Android or iOS app to view live and recorded video. But it doesn’t support If This Then That (IFTTT) recipes, and it won’t interact with mini video camera other smart home devices. At just under $80 it’s a good deal for a Wi-Fi security camera, but if you’re looking for more features, a higher resolution, and compatibility with other connected devices, the Icontrol Networks Piper nv$276.49 at Amazon remains our Editors’ Choice.

Measuring just 3.5 inches high with a white 2-by-2-inch camera head and a matching 2-by-2-inch base, the Ezviz Mini$76.98 at Amazon is the smallest home surveillance camera to hit our test lab. The 720p camera connects to your home router via Wi-Fi and has a 130-degree viewing angle, a 15fps recording frame rate, ip camera 1080P and two infrared LEDS that deliver night vision video of up to 30 feet. On the right side of the camera you’ll find a microSD card, a Reset button, and a five-foot USB power cable that is hardwired to the camera.

The front of the camera contains a microphone and an LED indicator that glows blue when connected and flashes red when there’s a connection error. The microphone lets you hear what’s going on around the camera and records audio to go along with video, but there’s no support for two-way communications like you hd ip camera get with the Nest Cam$194.33 at Amazon and the Netgear Arlo Q$219.00 at Amazon. The base is magnetic and can be mounted just about anywhere using the included screws and anchors. It’s connected to the camera head by a small mounting arm that lets you tilt and swivel the camera to provide an optimal viewing angle.

You can pop in a microSD card to store up to 64GB of stills and recorded video locally, or subscribe to a cloud storage service that gives ptz ip camera you seven days of storage for $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year, or 30 days of storage for $10.99 per month or $109.99 per year. When I first installed the camera

Once the DCS-2330L is added to your mydlink account, 720P HD IP Camera you can go in and name it and enable features such as email notifications, motion detection, and scheduled recording. Here you can also view live video as well as video recorded to the SD card. To set up motion detection, you use a pencil tool to identify where in the viewing area you want to monitor movement and use a slider to adjust sensitivity. There’s also a wizard that walks you through the Motion Detection setup process and an administrative page where you can change passwords and create user lists.

During my testing the DCS-2330L delivered a crisp daytime image at 720p with bold colors and decent frame rates that varied according to my network’s performance. With the D-Link HD Wireless N Day/Night Outdoor Cloud Camera (DCS-2330L) you can monitor what’s going on outside of your house using your smartphone or a Web browser, and the camera will send you an email when someone (or something) has entered best ip camera your specified detection zone. D-Link HD Wireless N Day/Night Outdoor Cloud Camera

The D-Link HD Wireless N Day/Night Outdoor Cloud security camera Camera (DCS-2330L) ($179.99) is a weatherproof networked security camera that delivers a sharp 720p video stream. It’s also equipped with a generous feature set that includes Wi-Fi connectivity, motion detection, a built-in microphone, and email alerts. It offers an easy way to keep an eye (and an ear) on what’s going on outside of your home or business using your Web browser or smartphone, and it will record video and audio to an onboard microSD card. Its ease of use and impressive video quality earn it our Editors’ Choice for outdoor security cameras.

The weatherproof housing, ip camera new white with a glossy black face, is IP65 compliant and offers protection against dust and moisture. The camera will operate in temperatures ranging from -13 degrees to 133 degrees Fahrenheit and features a one-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 3.45mm focal length, and a built-in Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) with a 15-foot motion detection range. Field of view angles are 57.8 (horizontal), 37.8 (vertical), and 66 (diagonal) degrees, and the DCS-2330L will stream video at resolutions of up to 1280 by 720. In comparison, the Schlage WCO100NX Home Outdoor Camera$179.00 at Amazon tops out at just 640 by 480.

The front of the camera holds the lens, sale ip camera a light sensor, a microphone, an infrared LED for night vision, and power and Wi-Fi LED indicators. A 3-inch Wi-Fi antenna is mounted on the left, and the rear of the camera contains a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button and two weatherproof covers that protect a power jack, an Ethernet port, a microSD card slot, and a Reset button. D-Link does not include a microSD card with this camera, but they do throw in an Ethernet cable.

If you have a D-Link Cloud router, installing the DCS-2330L is a snap thanks to the Zero-Configuration feature, which automatically configures the camera for you and adds it to your mydlink.com account. I don’t have a D-Link router, cheap ip camera so I used the manual configuration method, which was quick and painless. I went to mydlink.com and downloaded the setup file for the DCS-2330L. Then I ran the wizard, which instructed me to connect the camera to my router using the included Ethernet cable, plug in the power adapter, HD Wireless IP Camera and look for a green light. I hit Next, selected my camera from the list, and entered a password for the camera. The wizard searched for and found my wireless router SSID, and I entered my network password and unplugged the Ethernet cable. After a minute or so, I was asked to enter my mydlink account user name and password (if you don’t have an account yet, you can create one at this point) and the camera was added to my account.

Foscam FI9826P review

The Foscam FI9826P records video at a resolution of 1280×960, outdoor ptz camera which is higher than that of many of its rivals. It’s a highly manoeuvrable camera. Not only does it have pan and tilt capabilities, but it also includes 3x optical zoom to let you get a closer look.

The FI9826P is available in outdoor ip camera either black or white. Our review model was the former, and we found its design functional if unexciting. The camera looks similar to other pan and tilt models. It has a large flat base that the main spherical camera housing sits on top, allowing it to rotate horizontally 300o and tilt vertically by 120o, giving you a wide field of view. The camera lens is surrounded by 11 infrared LEDs that allow the camera to see in the dark at up to 8m distance. The camera’s wireless ptz cameraarticulated stand allows you to tilt and pivot the camera and to mount it at different angles on a wall or upside down from a ceiling. This allows for very flexible mounting, especially when paired with the camera’s pan-tilt-zoom functions.

Although the FI9826P is described by Foscam as a ‘plug-and-play’ camera, this really only applies to connecting the camera to your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, as you’ll still need to use a computer to ip dome camera perform some of the configuration, such as setting up an email address for alerts. You can handle most of the basic tasks with the app alone, however.

The camera’s quick connect instructions run you through the process of connecting the camera to your router, and by far the easiest ip ptz camera method is simply to use push-button WPS pairing. Otherwise, you can connect over Ethernet, but this will involve running cables around your home.

Once your camera is connected to your network

Once your camera is connected to your network, wireless camera security you can then use the Foscam Viewer mobile app to get a live view. This simply requires you to scan a QR code on the base of the camera, which in turn pairs it to the app. The app itself is unattractive and can be a little daunting at first. The app’s live video tab security system lets you toggle between a full-screen view as well as a command centre-style overview showing up to four cameras at once, which is useful if you have multiple cameras installed.

In the Video tab you also have full control over the camera’s pan-tilt-zoom movement. We found that our control inputs were followed by the camera almost instantly, but the live video feed lagged considerably behind the real world, at times taking close to eight seconds to update. We found that video viewed remotely wasn’t completely smooth, independent of the camera’s frame rate, security camera system as the live feed would work in bursts. This meant that video would work for a few seconds at a time before intermittently freezing and then updating again, making for a jarring experience.

It’s possible to incrementally adjust the camera angle, and we were pleased to see that the camera supports preset angles, home security camera  so you can quickly switch between them with a single button press rather than having to adjust the pan and tilt manually. The Foscam app also lets you configure the motion detection, but we were disappointed in how it worked. As with many other IP cameras, you set the detection zone using a grid interface to select the area you want to monitor for movement. With most cameras, the grid is laid over a live image, making it easy ip camera review to select specific areas such as a doorway. This isn’t the case with the Foscam, so you’re left to blindly try to guess the location of real life objects, leading to a lot of unnecessary trial and error.

Smanos IP6 review

The Smanos IP6 is a tall, vertical camera, camera ip wireless in contrast to the dome shapes of most of the IP cameras we see. It comes in a white finish, and we liked its unfussy, squared-off design. The IP6 attaches to a rotating, pivoting and tilting base that you can mount to a wall with the included screws.

Although the tilting mechanism had enough resistance to hold the camera at the desired angle, it couldn’t quite wireless camera cope with the weight of the power cable, which means the camera might rotate when you don’t want it to if you have the camera mounted on the wall at an awkward angle.

You use the IP6 app for iOS or Android to configure the camera, but we found it overly fiddly. For example, when putting in your Wi-Fi details you need to type in your Wi-Fi SSID manually, instead of selecting it from a list. It also took a few attempts before we could get the camera to connect to our wireless network successfully.  

The Smanos IP6 has a microSD card slot, ip camera software so it’s easy to save recorded footage locally. However, there’s no cloud storage option, so if a criminal spots your camera they could easily take the microSD card, and the stored footage, away with them. Saving to the cloud is typically an optional extra requiring a paid subscription, but the option is certainly nice to have for peace of mind.

Cloud storage is usually tied into motion or sound detection, as such events make a network camera start recording. This is an area where the IP6 falls short of its rivals, as it lacks any sort of detection. This means that you need to manually access the camera from your smartphone or tablet to begin recording, ip wifi camera which will be a problem if you intend to use the Smanos IP6 as a security camera. The chances that you decide to view the camera’s footage at the same time as an incident is occurring are likely to be slim. Annoyingly, there’s no way to tell the camera to save only to the installed microSD card. Instead we found the Android app would simultaneously save recordings and images to both the Android device and the microSD card. You can at least delete the duplicated recordings from your connected device to camera wifi free up space if needed. If you’re only in need of a camera for remote monitoring, such as checking up on pets or maybe an elderly relative, the Smanos IP6 works well enough. There’s not much in the way of video delay, with live footage only a fraction of a second behind reality.

D-Link DCS-5222L review

The DCS-5222L is a relatively large security camera network camera. Its design is in part dictated by its pan and tilt capabilities, which mean you have more flexibility in terms of placement compared to a fixed-angle camera. A flush plate mount and articulating arm mount are included if you want to fix the camera to the wall.

The camera essentially consists of two parts: a flat white base that allows the upper assembly to rotate, and the lens which sits inside a black spherical enclosure that can tilt vertically. The lens is surrounded by four infrared LEDs to assist with the night vision mode. There’s a non-removable ip camera new external antenna protruding from the side. The DCS-5222L’s size might make it trickier to hide out of the way than some of the smaller network cameras we’ve seen, but as a visual deterrent, there’s no mistaking it for a surveillance camera.

D-Link is known for its networking kit, sale ip camera so it’s perhaps unsurprising that it has applied some of this existing knowledge to its IP camera. The DCS-5222L integrates with the mydlink service, which is also used for remotely configuring other D-Link products such as its routers and NAS devices.

You can set up the DCS-5222L using WPS, so you just have to press the WPS button on the camera and on your router to make them pair. If your router doesn’t support WPS pairing you’ll need to first cheap ip camera connect the DCS-5222L through an Ethernet cable. You can then run the PC application or use the mydlink lite app on Android or iOS to set the camera up. You can then enter your home network’s Wi-Fi details to use the camera wirelessly. As with the DCS-2332L, if you’re using a D-Link router than supports mydlink and zero configuration, you can plug the camera in with an Ethernet cable first and it will grab the wireless settings automatically.

The mydlink lite app can also take care of firmware upgrades, and one was immediately available for our camera once HD Wireless IP Camera we’d installed it. The upgrade process took a few minutes, during which time the camera wasn’t operational, so it’s a good idea to upgrade the firmware straight away.

The camera can send you notifications

The mydlink lite app doesn’t allow 720P HD IP Camera you full control over the camera’s functions, such as configuring the motion detection. Instead, you’ll need to use the browser-based configuration on your PC. Here you can specify which areas to be used for motion detection by drawing trigger boxes over a live view from the camera. This makes it much easier to accurately IP Camera Onvif set the motion trigger points, and you can also set multiple detection zones. The camera can send you notifications, either as a push notification to your smart device or as an email to your registered account.

The DCS-5222L doesn’t have any ip camera 720p HD Wifi cloud storage support. Instead, recorded footage is saved to a microSD card, although one isn’t supplied with the camera. As there’s no remote backup, there’s always the risk that a thief will simply remove the memory card if it’s within reach. You can set the camera to overwrite the oldest saved clip when the memory card becomes full. If you want a backup, ip camera wifi outdoor  you’ll need to set up a Network Video Recorder using a PC – D-Link provides its own free D-ViewCam software for Windows. You can also save footage to an FTP server or NAS.

You can control the DCS-5222L remotely using either the mobile app or through your browser, allowing you to pan and tilt the lens to get a clearer view. You can either use on-screen directional best ip camera controls or create a bounding box to aim the camera at different points. We found the camera to be highly responsive even when we were controlling it remotely. There was also only a very slight delay between what we saw from the live view and what was happening in reality.

Nest Cam review – beautifully simple, but simply expensive

Nest, the smart home company video camera behind the original smart thermostat and the smartphone-connected Protect smoke alarms, bought IP camera company Dropcam last year, but has waited until now to launch its first Nest-branded camera. The Nest Cam is an evolution of the existing Dropcam camera, mini video camera built to slot into Nest’s existing range of smart home equipment.

The camera itself is incredibly simple, with a clean and stylish design that you won’t mind leaving on display. The 1080p camera sensor sits on top of an articulated stem for easy adjustment, with a magnetic base that lets you fix it vertically to a fridge or kitchen appliance without having to break out any screws. A tripod thread in the bottom will let you fix it just about anywhere else as well.

You only need to connect the power adaptor to get the Nest Cam online, as setup is handled entirely through the iOS and Android companion apps. There’s no need to plug a base station into your router, ip camera 1080P as the camera connects to your existing Wi-Fi connection. When adding a new Nest product through the app, you use your smartphone’s camera to scan the QR code on the back of each device. Your phone then connects to the Cam directly, letting you add your router’s Wi-Fi details.

The smartphone apps let you adjust settings, change video quality and set recording schedules for when you’re home and don’t need the camera to record, but the most useful function is live view. You can get a live feed from your camera virtually anywhere you have mobile phone reception, hd ip camera and the frame rate stays remarkably high even on 3G. You can toggle between 1080p and 720p recording, but image quality, particularly in faces, remains excellent at the lower quality setting.

With all your footage uploaded to the cloud, you don’t have to worry about someone stealing the camera and leaving you with no way to identify them. Placing the camera in a prominent position should help positively identify any would-be intruders, and thankfully picture quality remains high at night on account of the infrared night vision LEDs. The image quality is among the best we’ve seen from an IP camera – a daytime clip is available here.

The camera also has an ptz ip camera integrated microphone and speaker, which you can use to listen in through the app or speak using your smartphone’s microphone. There’s naturally a second or so of delay between you speaking and the sound being produced by the camera, but it’s ideal if you want to use a Nest Cam for keeping an eye on your pets. A quick “get down” will let your dog know it’s not OK to take over the sofa while you’re at work.

Dropcam Pro shows just how great a camera like this can get with quality optics

Dropcam Pro shows just how great a ip camera review camera like this can get with quality optics. That Dropcam sees itself more as a software-and-services company, and thus works hard on the back-end and apps also makes a huge difference. The CVR service is costly, but worth it when you capture something important with your baby, your dogs, your family—or something a lot less savory, camera ip wireless like burglars. The lack of on-board storage may seem like a burden, but Dropcam would argue the set-it-and-forget cloud storage saves you even more hassle, and I’d agree.

Other options: The Logitech Alert 750n Indoor Master System$299.99 at Logitech offers HomePlug connections (a convenience for some with tricky wireless setups at home) and a good cloud service for video, but its price and video quality no wireless camera longer can compare. Likewise, the Wi-Fi-based Y-Cam HomeMonitor Indoor$89.97 at Amazon has some great features, like long-distance night vision and seven days of free online video storage. But with only VGA video, its simply not as good a camera or service combo by any stretch. All told, with this Pro release, ip camera software Dropcam pulls ahead of the pack in the home surveillance camera market.

You can schedule times for when alerts can are sent. iPhone users get a nice little extra—Location Scheduling. Tell the Dropcam service to turn on notifications when you leave a location, based entirely on where you phone is. That way, you don’t get inundated with alerts when you’re home in front of the camera.

The night vision on the Dropcam Pro is phenomenal, ip wifi camera especially considering it only uses eight infrared LEDs. That’s fewer than most—even the previous Dropcam had 12. The large sensor size makes up for it; it takes in so much light, it requires a cavern-dark room for the night vision to even kick on.

I’ve dinged Dropcam in the past for not offering a battery but, realistically, it can’t without making the camera unwieldy, camera wifi the size of a phone at least. Luckily, being powered by USB, there are third-party options for hooking it to battery packs a-plenty.

How does the smartphone even see your Dropcam Pro if it’s not yet on the Wi-Fi? Dropcam Pro also integrates Bluetooth LE, ip dome camera the low energy tech part of Bluetooth Smart (4.0)—the same Bluetooth available on the latest iPhones and Android devices. Not only is Bluetooth LE an integral part of the setup via mobile, it’s a future-proof scheme. The company claims Dropcam Pro will use Bluetooth LE to instantly talk to other peripherals in the future, and Dropcam may open its API for programmers that want to make devices that talk to the Dropcam Pro.

Features and Performance

What exactly does the Pro have over the ip ptz camera old Dropcam that warrants paying the extra 50 bucks? It’s all about the optics. The wide field of view on the Dropcam Pro is 130 degrees, up from the original’s 107 degrees. The sensor size is double—Dropcam says it is even bigger than the camera sensor in the iPhone 5s. It delivers an excellent video stream at 1,920-by-1,080 full motion—without a doubt, the best video I’ve seen on a home surveillance camera.

On the mobile apps you can use a two finger pinch/spread to digitally zoom in and out on the video. The same effect can be duplicated with the mouse scroll wheel in the browser interface at Dropcam.com. Digital zoom isn’t usually a big deal and sometimes looks awful, but the sensor size, video quality, wireless camera security and well-designed apps make it easy to pan or tilt around the high-def image. An enhanced view oversamples a zoomed-in area of the stream—click the magic wand icon to get a sharper zoom than you’d imagine possible. This works best in very bright light conditions.

Let’s also note that on the browser, security system the Dropcam interface is Flash-based, so it works with every major desktop Web browser in existence. Unlike the interfaces for cameras like the D-Link Cloud Camera 1150$69.99 at Best Buy or Compro TN600W, which limit you typically to Internet Explorer.

The audio capabilities on the Pro are enhanced. You’ll hear more because of the mic sensitivity, and I found the security camera system two-way audio (where you talk through the software interface so your voice comes out the camera) was better than most cameras, both louder and clearer.

The hallmark of Dropcam is its encrypted, cloud-based, digital video recording service, now officially dubbed Cloud Video Recording, or CVR. Dropcam can be used to watch live video feeds at no extra cost, but the power is in being able to go back in time to watch previous footage. If there’s any area where Dropcam falls short, though, it’s the pricing. Look at it as the cost of three cups of coffee a month ($9.95/month or $99/year) and it doesn’t hurt as much, and having that seven-day buffer of recorded video can make all the difference when you have a break-in or other problem. You can also go back a full month if you pay $29.95/month or $299/year; home security camera  how much its worth to you depends on your security needs. But it wouldn’t hurt if Dropcam offered a 24-hour recording buffer for, say, $10/year (or gratis).

Nest Dropcam Pro

The Dropcam Pro ($199 direct) outshines ip camera 1080P not only its predecessor, the Dropcam HD, but its top competitors as well. Dropcam Pro has twice the digital zoom power (8x) of the original (4x)—normally nothing to brag about, but newly enhanced visual quality makes it better than the pan/tilt/zoom on mechanized cameras of the same price (like the Compro Cloud Network Camera TN600W). Couple that with easy PC-free setup and the industry’s best cloud-based recording, hd ip camera and it’s a no brainer: The Dropcam Pro is our Editors’ Choice in consumer home surveillance.

Design and Setup

One look at the packaging for the new Dropcam Pro$252.99 at Amazon and it’s obvious the company is channeling Apple’s product presentation. Even the box is a beaut, containing the absolute minimal paperwork to ptz ip camera get up and running: a postcard sized quick start guide.

The appearance of the Dropcam Pro is identical to the Dropcam (still available at $149.99). The camera itself is a small puck that clips into a metal stand on a hinge. The stand rotates as needed in the base you attach to wall or ceiling, so you can view any area of a room. In the stand, Dropcam Pro measures 4.5 by 3.15 by 3.15 inches (HWD). Without the stand, the puck-shaped camera itself is hard to position, but not impossible, if you want to add some stealth to your deployment. It’s nice that the outdoor ptz camera Pro’s stand is now black to match the camera, but it’s a shame the 10-foot long USB-power cord and wall adapter are still white, so they don’t exactly match.

Dropcam Pro is one of the few cameras that lack an Ethernet port. It’s all about the wireless: Inside the camera is not just Wi-Fi, but dual-band 802.11n, so you can connect via 2.4GHz (the typical setup) or 5GHz. Dropcam Pro is the only surveillance camera on the market with dual-band. The camera actually picks the band for you, generally going 5GHz if available.

Your installation options include outdoor ip camera plugging the camera directly into a PC to access the setup files for Mac or Windows and going from there, but that’s old-school. Much easier: Plug the Dropcam Pro into power, open up the free Dropcam app on an iOS device (or eventually Android 4.3 device), wireless ptz camera create or log in to a Dropcam account, and let it find the camera. The original Piper had a 2-megapixel CMOS sensor, but the Piper nv uses a 3.4-megapixel sensor with 1,920-by-1,080 (full HD) video resolution. The front of the camera contains a fish-eye lens, ip camera software a motion sensor, and a microphone for two-way audio communications. The top of the camera holds a very loud 105dB siren, while the back has a power jack and a battery compartment for the three included AA backup batteries. Inside the Piper is a Series 500 Z-Wave controller, 802.11b/g/n networking circuitry, an ARM processor, and sensors for temperature, light, ip wifi camera sound, and humidity. The camera’s pan and tilt capabilities provide a wide 180-degree field of view, and the 10x digital zoom lets you get up close and personal.

The Piper is much more than a surveillance camera. It uses motion and sound detection to alert you of any activity while you’re away, tracks indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, camera wifi and issues local weather alerts. As if that weren’t enough, this multifaceted device also controls and interacts with various Z-Wave home automation devices, including smart switches and dimmers, door and window sensors, security camera and range extenders, all of which are available from Piper and range in price from $40 to $60.

Live video can be viewed on a ip camera new smartphone or tablet using an iOS or Android app, but you can’t access the Piper nv using a Web browser. The app’s dashboard is the main control panel for the camera. Front and center is a security wheel that lets you switch between Stay (when someone is home), Away, and Vacation security modes, or you can disarm all security rules. When you change modes, the camera beeps (loudly) for a few seconds and a voice tells you that you’ve entered a new security mode. The left side of the screen shows indoor and outdoor temperature readings, sale ip camera and a status menu below the security wheel lists recent triggered events (motion or sound detection) and the status of any installed Z-Wave devices.

Over on the right are Settings, Events, and Recording icons. The Settings menu is where you go to enable or disable the siren, cheap ip camera set the temperature display to Fahrenheit or Celsius, and enable the Pet at Home feature, which lets you set motion sensitivity to prevent small animals from triggering an event. Here you can also set up a Trusted Circle of contacts that will be notified when an event occurs, and adjust video settings to help preserve bandwidth.

The Events and Recording pages list all events and recordings that have triggered the camera, and show the time of day, HD Wireless IP Camera date, and security mode (Stay, Away, Vacation). Pressing the play icon next to each event lets you view a 35-second video clip, which is stored in the Piper cloud. The cloud will store up to 1,000 clips (free of charge) and then will begin overwriting them when the limit is reached. If you click the arrow on the right the clip will be downloaded to your photo gallery.

At the bottom of the dashboard are tabs to view live video, control Z-Wave devices, set security rules, and view data collected by Piper’s sensors. You can set rules for each security mode for when motion and/or sound are 720P HD IP Camera detected and when the temperature reaches a certain threshold. Options include setting the camera to record video; being alerted by text, email, phone call, or push notification (you can check all if you prefer); notifying a member of your Trusted Circle; and sounding the siren.

The Control page lets you set up rules for your Z-Wave devices, and includes timing schedules, temperature thresholds, IP Camera Onvif and lighting conditions. For example, you can have a lamp connected to a smart switch turn on when the Piper’s light sensor says it’s dark, or have your lights turn on and off according to a timed schedule. The Vitals tab brings up a colorful graph that displays indoor and outdoor temperatures, humidity, ambient light and sound, and motion data for the last 48 hours.

Netgear Arlo Q

The Arlo Q ($219.99) is Netgear’s latest entry into the ip camera 720p HD Wifi growing home security camera market. Unlike its wireless outdoor sibling, the Arlo, the Arlo Q is an indoor camera that connects to your home’s Wi-Fi network so you can view live on-demand video using your smartphone. It’s a cinch to set up and provides crisp 1080p video and free cloud storage, and you can use its motion and  ip camera wifi outdoor  audio sensors to trigger other smart devices by creating If This Then That (IFTTT) recipes. It’s an excellent option, but it doesn’t offer quite as many features as our Editors’ Choice for home surveillance cameras, the Icontrol Networks Piper nv$276.99 at Amazon.

The Arlo Q$219.00 at Amazon eschews the overused black puck-shaped design we’ve seen on cameras such as the Nest Cam$149.00 at Amazon, the Samsung SmartCam HD Plus$129.95 at Amazon, and the D-Link DCS-2630L$159.99 at Amazon. Instead, the 2.7-by-2.7-by-1.5-inch (HWD) camera head is shaped like a diamond and shrouded in a white soft-touch casing. It sits atop a best ip camera square base with a thin arm that lets you tilt the camera forward, backward, and sideways. The stand can be used on a desktop or mounted on a wall using the included mounting hardware. Also included is a 10-foot USB power cable and adapter.

The camera features a 1080p video resolution at 30fps, a 130-degree field of view, an 8X digital zoom, and 10 infrared LEDS that provide up to 25 feet of night vision. It has 2.4GHz and 5Ghz Wi-Fi circuitry, motion and video camera sound detection sensors, and a smallish speaker and microphone that allows two-way audio communication. You can view live and recorded video and change settings using an Android, iOS, or FireOS mobile device, or with a Web browser. There’s a mini video camera mini USB power port on the back of the camera, Sync and Reset buttons on the right, and a power LED on the front.

Samsung SmartCam HD Pro SNH-P6410BN Review

The Samsung SmartCam HD Pro produces camera ip wireless crisp video during the day or night, and it is easy to install and setup. Although the app is easy to use, its commands are sometimes confusing.

Samsung’s SmartCam HD Pro boasts some impressive numbers for an IP camera, but you may have to compromise on a few things here and there. It shoots high-definition video at 1080p, so you can expect to see crisp, clear images. When we tested the video quality at the highest resolution, the clarity was excellent but latency wireless camera suffered. Every movement was delayed by several seconds, and the problem wasn’t Wi-Fi related. Once we dropped the resolution to the lowest setting, the motion latency improved, but the clarity suffered. For a happy medium, choose a setting in between for decent clarity and low latency.

Like the best IP camera, the Samsung SmartCam HD Pro has a 30 fps frame rate, which means that when you play video back, it shouldn’t be choppy. With a night vision range of 62 feet, ip camera software you should be able to clearly see any object in front of the Wi-Fi camera – even in complete darkness. At 16 feet away from the lens, we weren’t able to read every line written on a white poster board, but we were able to make out a few lines.

This internet camera uses two-way audio, so you can communicate from the app to whomever is in the room with the camera. This means you can tell your dog to get off the couch, say hello to your kids when they come home, or even startle an intruder and possibly prevent theft.

The Samsung SmartCam does not use cloud storage like most of the IP cameras we tested, but that means you don’t have to pay a monthly fee to access saved videos. This IP security ip wifi camera camera supports up to 64GB microSD cards. You can’t schedule recording, but motion and sound detection can help preserve the space on your storage device.

Only a handful of the IP cameras we tested integrate with smart home systems. Samsung has its own called SmartThings, and you can hook the Samsung SmartCam up to monitor your family and home. It also works in conjunction with other Samsung devices to help automate your home.

Netgear Arlo Q VMC3040 Review

The Netgear Arlo Q was slightly security camera more difficult to use than other IP cameras we tested, but overall, it is a user-friendly IP camera with excellent video quality – as long as there’s light in the room you’re monitoring.

The Netgear Arlo Q proves to be equally as good as the best IP camera when it comes to video quality – during the day, ip camera new at least. At night, it struggles to keep up with the best wireless IP camera. On the plus side, this internet camera comes with an easy-to-use app for your smart device and several of the best features found on IP cameras.

As long as the room you’re monitoring has light, the Arlo Q’s video quality shines. The 1080p video resolution means images are sharp and detailed. Even in low light, the Netgear Arlo Q did well. The latency between the moment there’s movement and sale ip camera when it appears on video was low – almost instant, in fact.

In total darkness, the Netgear Arlo Q’s LED lights kick on and illuminate the room you’re monitoring, but the visible range isn’t as far as Netgear claims. In our tests, we placed a sign 16 feet away from the camera, and it was barely visible in the image. As long as an object is close to the lens, you can see it in great detail, but it’s far from the claimed range of 25 feet.

As with any IP security camera, cheap ip camera the Netgear Arlo Q detects motion and begins recording. It also uses its microphone to pick up sound and can start recording when it picks up noise. The two-way audio is useful whether you want to use this as a security camera or just to keep an eye on your family.

This wasn’t the most difficult IP camera to install, but it did give us some trouble. The first time we tried to connect the Netgear Arlo Q to Wi-Fi, it simply wouldn’t recognize the connection. Before we called customer support, we tried resetting the Wi-Fi camera and our Wi-Fi connection, and that fixed the issue. During our testing, the Netgear Arlo Q only lost its connection to the router twice.

You can’t use the Netgear Arlo Q with smart home hubs, but you can schedule recording; for example, you can set your IP camera to start recording when you typically leave home for work. If anything happens while the Netgear Arlo Q is on and hooked up to your Wi-Fi, HD Wireless IP Camera you get notifications of those events. This is one of the handful of IP cameras we tested that lets you use 5 GHz Wi-Fi, so 2.4 GHz frequency devices don’t interfere and interrupt the connection.

Foscam C2 Review

The quality of the video captured during 720P HD IP Camera the day is excellent – even in low light the image is clear – as long as nothing in front of the lens moves. In one of our tests, we placed a white poster board 16 feet away, and we were able to read the top four lines, which is better than at least half of the IP cameras we tested. Motion on the live feed and recordings is choppy, though. Movement pauses and then speeds up to catch up with real time, which is a deal breaker if you’re hoping to keep videos for posterity. The video and still images we took IP Camera Onvif at night were of much lower quality. Although the camera’s invisible LED lights illuminate a far distance, they aren’t bright enough to show detail. It also created a halo effect at the center of the image that spreads out, distorting what could be seen.

The audio quality, both from the camera itself and the app, is the best of the IP security cameras we tested. Every word spoken is clear and easy to understand. The Foscam C2 comes with all of features you expect in the best wireless IP cameras, such as motion ip camera 720p HD Wifi and sound detection, digital zoom, and a wide-angle lens that lets you see most of the room you’re monitoring. This wasn’t the easiest IP camera to use, though.

There are a few apps for different Foscam products, so be sure you download the right one for your Foscam C2, or you may waste time trying to get the camera to work with an app that isn’t meant for it. Setup was more involved than with other IP cameras we tested, ip camera wifi outdoor  but there are three ways to connect to Wi-Fi. You may have problems getting the camera to connect to Wi-Fi, regardless of which of the three methods you choose. We also noticed that the camera rebooted a few times on its own. The app for the Foscam C2 is straightforward, and the icons are easy to understand.

You can choose to pay for the company’s cloud storage service, or you can use local storage. This Wi-Fi camera supports microSD cards up to 64GB, and because you can schedule recordings or let the camera record only when it senses movement or audio, you likely won’t fill up your storage device too quickly.
